Zwinck, Rouhana Named To All-MAC First Team

DeKALB, Ill. - Bowling Green senior Erin Zwinck and junior Nikki Rouhana were named to the All-Mid-American Conference First Team for softball, it was announced Thursday (May 11). The All-MAC Team is chosen by a vote of the league's head coaches.
Senior Colleen Bates and junior Jen Domschot earned all-league honors. The team was announced at Northern Illinois University's Mary M. Bell Field Thursday night, in conjunction with the MAC Tournament.
Zwinck, who hit a team-best .328 in the regular season, hit a blistering .429 in league play this season. Zwinck, who earns All-MAC honors for the first time in her career, also was named to the GTE Academic All-District IV First Team on Thursday. Entering the MAC Tournament, Zwinck had split her time evenly between third base and designated player, making 22 starts at each spot.
Rouhana, a first baseman, also earns all-league accolades for the first time. She hit .320 in the regular season to rank third on the team, and hit .373 in conference action to place second behind Zwinck. In conference action, she led the team with a slugging percentage of .569.
Bates, a catcher, was named to the second team for the second time in her career, having also earned the honor as a sophomore in 1998. She hit .271, and .242 in MAC games. Bates led the team with three homers and 15 RBI in league play. On the season, she led all MAC players with 17 stolen bases heading into the MAC Tournament.
Jen Domschot, an outfielder, earns second-team laurels for the second consecutive year. She has hit .321 to rank second on the team, and has a school record-tying five homers to date this season. She hit .333 with a .556 slugging pct. in league action.
The Falcons, 30-16 overall, open MAC Tournament play with a Thursday game vs. Central Michigan, the defending tournament champions.
