Tony Fontana, who compiled an 8-3 mark with a 2.69 earned-run average in 2000 for Bowling Green State University, was selected to the Mideast region First Team.
Following the 2000 season, Fontana was drafted by the Boston Red Sox and assigned to the NY-Penn league's Lowell Spinners.
Fontana's selection marks the sixth time in the last seven seasons, BG has had a player named to the all-region first team. Fontana was previously named to the Mid-American Conference All-League First Team.
