Women's Tennis Opens Dual-Match Play

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team begins the dual-match portion of the 2000-2001 schedule with a Friday (Jan. 19) match against the University of Michigan. The contest will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Varsity Tennis Building in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Head coach Penny Dean's squad features four seniors, a junior and three freshmen. Senior Erika Wasilewski was the Falcons' top singles player in the fall, in terms of victories, having posted a 7-5 record. Classmate Abby Bratton led the team in doubles wins, going 7-5 in fall play.
Tracy Howitt and Meghan Rhodes round out the senior class, and are joined by junior Devon Bissinger and frosh Gaby Coello, Jessica Johnson and Lisa Maloney.
Following the U-M match, the Falcons will play a pair of contests in Bloomington, Ind., a week from Saturday (Jan. 27). BGSU will face both Indiana State and host Indiana that day.
BGSU will return "home" for a match against Cincinnati on Friday, Feb. 9. That match will be played at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club, and begin at 6:00 p.m.
The Falcons posted a dual-match record of 12-9 last season, and had a Mid-American Conference mark of 5-3.
