TOLEDO, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's tennis team successfully began the dual-match portion of the 2000-2001 schedule, blanking the University of Dayton by a 7-0 score Saturday (Jan. 27). The match was held at Shadow Valley in Toledo.
Junior Vitek Wild led the way, winning at both the top singles and doubles flights. All six of BGSU's singles competitors -- in order, Wild, sophomore Geoff Hiscox, junior Mike Kossoff, senior Brandon Gabel, sophomore Micael Lopez-Acevedo and junior Ed Kuresman -- won in straight sets.
In doubles action, Wild teamed with Hiscox for a win at the top level, while BGSU's second-flight team consisted of sophomore Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo and freshman Nick Moxley. Gabel teamed with sophomore Peter Gardonyi for a win at the third flight.
The Falcons' Saturday tripleheader continues with matches against IUPUI (4:00 p.m.) and Youngstown State (5:00 p.m.) at Shadow Valley.
