Bowling Green, Ohio - Bob and Karen Sebo of Salem, Ohio have recently established an endowed scholarship for the Bowling Green State University football program. The gift of $110,000 will be invested, with dividends used to provide grant-in-aid assistance each year for student-athletes participating in the BGSU football program. This is one of the largest individual gifts ever made to the Falcon athletic department.
"I want to thank Bob and Karen Sebo for their generous support of our scholarship endowment program," said BGSU Director of Athletics Paul Krebs. "As an alumnus of the University , it is very meaningful that Bob would give back to his alma mater and to provide a scholarship for future Falcon football players. Bob and Karen have great passion for the sport of footballand support the lifelong values that are learned through the sport. This leadership gift allows us to pursue excellence in our footballprogram and we are very appreciative oftheir support."
The recipients will be a highly accomplished player selected each year by the Falcon coaching staff.
Bob earned a degree in business administration from BGSU in 1958 and is retired from Paychex, Inc., a service company for small and medium-sized businesses. He continues to serve on their Board of Directors. Both he and Karen are well known for their generous support of education and their respective community.
"The success of any program is linked to individuals like Bob and Karen Sebo," said BGSU football coach Urban Meyer. "Their generosity has allowed us to continue to pursue, without hesitation, the best and brightest young men for our program. In meeting them, their passion for this endeavor was clear and I Iook forward to their association with BGSU football for years to come."
Bob's daughter, Julie and her husband, George Schmelzle, graduated from BGSU in 1986. George was a member of the Falcons 1982 and 1985 MAC Championship football teams.
