Falcon Golf Finishes 13th at Xavier Provident Invitational

Bowling Green - The Bowling Green State University men's golf team finished 13th at the Xavier Provident Invitational on Tuesday with a team score of 881. The 21-team field was won by Western Kentucky with a score of 854.
The top Falcon finisher was freshman Austin Chase who tied for 17th with a three-round score of 217. He shot a 73 in his first two rounds and a 71 in his final round. Brian Gerken followed closely with a score of 218 to tie for 24th place. Also placing for BGSU were Adam Balls (T-33rd, 220), Justin Gillham (T-77th, 228) and Craig Pickerel (95th, 235).
The Falcons end the 2001 Fall Season by hosting the John Piper Collegiate, Oct. 22-23, at Stone Ridge Country Club in Bowling Green. The tournament will consist of two rounds of 18 on Oct. 22 followed by one round of 18 on Oct. 23. The tournament was added recently to the BGSU schedule and is being named after long-time Falcon men's golf coach John Piper.
