Bowling Green, Ohio - In a total team effort, the Bowling Green State University volleyball team defeated IPFW, 3-0 (32-30, 30-27, 30-26). The Falcons are now 11-4 overall. The Falcons remain at home this weekend, playing Miami on Friday and Marshall on Saturday.
Coach Van De Walle's goal for the match was "to play well enough to play everyone." She got her wish. Every Falcon had a opportunity to contribute to the win. Setter Natalie Becker posted 37 assists to lead the team. Becker also recorded six kills with no errors to lead the team with a .462 hitting percentage. Her seven digs ranked second on the team. True freshman Melissa Mohr posted her first collegiate kill and block solo, as well as four digs. Redshirt freshman Bridget Protas posted three block assists in the one game she played in the match, second only to Laura Twyman's four block assist performance.
Sophomore Nadia Bedricky played only one game, but posted eight kills, hitting .375. She ranked second on the team overall, tying Susie Norris and behind Caty Rommeck's thirteen kills. Both Norris and Rommeck played in all three games. Norris led the team with eleven digs. Rommeck also had three block assists on the night. Senior Karen Amstutz had a team-high three service aces.
Also seeing action for the Falcons at their third match in Anderson Arena were Kate Yeo, Shayann Robinson, Amber Vorst, Sara Sikorski, and Kristin Gamby.
The Falcons had 52 kills and hit .188 as a team, while IPFW had 46 kills and hit .126. Both teams registered nine team blocks.
BGSU is home for two conference matches this weekend, facing Miami on Friday (Oct. 19) and Marshall on Saturday (Oct. 20). Both games are at 7:00 p.m. in Anderson Arena.
