
Bowling Green Defeats Marshall, 3-0

Bowling Green, Ohio - Behind a home crowd and in front of returning BG volleyball alumni, Denise Van De Walle and her Falcons defeated the Thundering Herd of Marshall, 3-0 (30-22, 30-23, 30-26) for Van De Walle's 350th career win. She is the first MAC volleyball coach to reach this landmark. The Falcons are now 12-5 overall and 5-4 in the MAC.
The Falcons were led by their seniors. Caty Rommeck led the team with 23 kills, her highest in a three game match all season. She also hit .488, recording only three errors on the night, which was her second highest of the season since hitting .531 against Maryland (Sept. 1). Rommeck also recorded ten total blocks, including six block solos, which is her career high. Natalie Becker had a team-high 37 assists and hit a season high .556. Becker posted five kills, as well as six digs and three block assists. Karen Amstutz had a team high and season high 12 defensive digs.
Susie Norris was second on the team with 11 kills and also posted 12 digs, her season high for a three game match. Amber Vorst also posted double digit digs, hitting 11.
Also seeing action for the Falcons were Kate Yeo, Nadia Bedricky, Shyann Robinson, Melissa Mohr, Bridget Protas, Kristin Gamby, and Laura Twyman.
The Falcons had 50 kills and hit .260 as a team, their highest since September 7. Marshall had 36 kills, hitting only .061. BG had a team-total 12 blocks and Marshall had five.
BGSU starts next week on the road, facing MAC West leader Ball State on October 24 (7:00 p.m.). The Falcons return to Anderson for the weekend, facing Buffalo October 26 (7:00 p.m.) and Ohio October 27 (3:00 p.m.).
