Muncie, Indiana - In a tough four game match, Ball State defeats Bowling Green volleyball 3-1 (30-27, 27-30, 18-30, 18-22). Bowling Green moves to 12-6 overall and 5-5 in the conference. Ball State extends its home winning streak to 38 games. The Cardinals are now 13-6 overall and 9-2 in the conference.
The Falcons were led by junior Kristin Gamby and sophomore Susie Norris. Norris led the Falcons with 19 kills, hitting .405 on the night and contributed 17 digs. Gamby had 16 kills, hitting .382 in the match and hit a career high five block solos, as well as one block assist, for six total blocks, also a career high.
Contributing from the senior class was Natalie Becker, with a team-high 61 assists. Classmate Caty Rommeck posted 15 kills on the night, as well as 12 digs and seven total blocks. Shyann Robinson recorded 13 kills and led the team with two service aces. Kate Yeo registered 16 digs, second only to Norris's performance. Karen Amstutz posted 11 digs.
Also seeing action for the Falcons were Laura Twyman, Amber Vorst and Melissa Mohr.
The Falcons had 66 kills in their effort, hitting .219 as a team. The Cardinals had 74 total kils and hit .270. BG had 13 team blocks to Ball State's 12.
The Falcons return to Anderson Arena for the weekend, playing Buffalo Friday (Oct. 26) at 7:00 p.m. and Ohio Saturday (Oct. 27) at 3:00 p.m.
