Hiscox Advances At ITA Midwest Meet

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Bowling Green State University men's tennis junior Geoff Hiscox was victorious in both singles and doubles play, as three members of the Falcons opened action at the ITA Omni Hotels Midwest Championships Friday (Oct. 26). The four-day event is hosted by Michigan State University.
Hiscox, seeded 15th among singles competitors, drew a first-round bye before beating Sean Moran of Western Illinois in straight sets (6-4, 6-3). Hiscox will face 16th-seeded Mike Calkins of Illinois in third-round action Saturday (Oct. 27).
In doubles play, Hiscox teamed with senior Vitek Wild for an 8-2 doubles victory over the WIU team of Anderson/Kirst. Hiscox and Wild will face the seventh-seeded Wisconsin duo of Green/Rutherford in the next round.
Wild and junior Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo suffered first-round losses in singles action Friday. Wild was defeated by Michigan State's Goran Tupalo, 6-3, 6-4. Lopez-Acevedo lost to Ball State's Andrew Seni in a hard-fought, three-set match.
