Akron Upsets Bowling Green, 3-0

Akron, Ohio - In a tough Conference loss, Bowling Green falls to Akron 3-0 (25-30, 27-30, 30-32) Saturday night in Akron. Bowling Green moves to 8-3 overall and 2-2 in the MAC, while Akron moves to 10-3 and 4-2 in the MAC.
Caty Rommeck led BG with 17 kills, hitting .273 on the night. She also had ten digs, five block solos and two block assists. Rommeck's block solos match her career high. Natalie Becker posted 31 assists and 13 digs to lead the team in both departments. She also recorded three kills and a block assist in the match.
Junior Kristin Gamby posted eight kills, while senior Amber Vorst had three kills and 12 digs. Sophomore Laura Twyman had five kills and a block solo in the loss.
Also seeing action for the Falcons were seniors Kate Yeo and Karen Amstutz, sophomores Nadia Bedricky and Susie Norris, and freshman Bridget Protas.
The Falcons had 43 kills and hit only .096 as a team, while the Zips had 46 kills, hitting .127 as a team. The Falcons had a team total nine blocks to the Zips seven.
BGSU returns home to Anderson Arena, facing MAC opponent Kent State October 10 (7:00 p.m.). The Falcons are back on the road next weekend for two conference matches, playing Toledo October 12 (7:00 p.m.) and Eastern Michigan October 13 (3:00 p.m.).
