ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team competed in the fourth annual Wolverine Fall Invitational last weekend (Oct. 5-7). The individual tournament, held at the Varsity Tennis Center included four other Midwest teams -- DePaul, Marquette, Michigan State and host Michigan.
No team scores were kept in the tourney.
Individually, the falcons had three players compete in the Blue (top singles) Flight. Junior Alyson Gabel lost her first-round match, but won a pair of matches in the back draw. Senior Devon Bissinger and freshman Susan Schoenberger also competed in that flight.
In the Maize flight, sophomore Lisa Maloney captured a pair of matches in the back draw, defeating teammate Cameron Benjamin in the second of those victories. Benjamin and fellow freshman Laura Kokinda each won one back-draw contest at the Maize Flight.
Freshman Lindsey Mix was the lone Falcon competitor at the Wolverine Flight.
In doubles, the team of Gabel and sophomore Jessica Johnson won its first-round match, while the Bissinger/Schoenberger and Kokinda/Maloney teams each won a back-draw contest.
