Bowling Green Defeated in MAC Opener

In the first conference match-up of the season, the BGSU Falcons were defeated by Toledo (80-220) and Eastern Michigan (83.5-216.5) on Friday night at Cooper Pool. EMU won the meet by a slim margin of 151-149 over Toledo. The three men's teams will meet Saturday at Cooper Pool at 11:00 a.m.
The Falcon women saw improvement in seven events from their season opener against Wayne State last week. Senior Alicia Davies placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.72. Teammates Erin Dilkes and Katy Monnette were 8th and 9th, respectively.
Sophomore Jillian Coward was second in the 200 fly, swimming 2:13.89. Kelli Pydynowski and Angela Jones were 6th and 8th.
Kim Moden finished a close second in the 50 free, swimming 24.49, only 5 one-hundredths off of first place finisher Emily Markovich from Toledo (24.44). Moden's 50 free time was almost a full second faster than her win versus Wayne State.
The Falcon divers finished as a pack, with Emily Hois (214.30), Ryan Donley (196.95) and Molly Peterson (191.75) finishing third, fourth and sixth, repectively, in the 1 meter. In the three meter, the teammates swithched places, with Donley in third (203.50), Peterson in fourth (201.70) and Hois in fifth (195.30).
Both relays finished third. The 200 medley relay, made up of Alicia Coburn, Alissa Davies, Jillian Coward and Kim Moden, swam 1:50.73, a four second improvement from the Wayne State opener. The 400 free relay, made up of Amy Smith, Alissa Davies, Jessie Humes and Kim Moden, swam a 3:43.66.
