RETURNING HOME
The Falcons will return home for three straight games. Following today's contest, BGSU will host Michigan (November 28) and Marist (Dec. 1). Their next game away from home will be December 5 at Duquesne.
FALCONS IMPRESS IN ALASKA
BGSU earned many fans with its showing at the Top of the World Classic in Fairbanks. The Falcons gutted out an 82-78 overtime win over 2001 Sweet 16 participant, Ole Miss, and outfought Delaware, a team which won 20 games last season, 73-70, in the third place game. The Falcons fell to Washington, 81-74, in the second round.
"Bowling Green is a very experienced team that I think you'll see in March playing in the NCAA Tournament," said Washington coach Bob Bender.
BGSU also received votes and was ranked #47 prior to the tournament in the ESPN Coaches Poll.
FALCONS WIN OVERTIME OPENER
The Falcons won their fourth straight season opener under Coach Dan Dakich when they defeated Ole Miss, 82-78, in overtime in the first round. BGSU was 1-0 in overtime games last year, winning at Miami, 67-63.
ALL-MCLEOD
Senior guard Keith McLeod earned All-Tournament honors for the Falcons. He averaged 23 points on 51.4 percent shooting from the floor and 50.0 percent from beyond three-point range. Despite being the second leading scorer in MAC play a year ago, Keith McLeod was not chosen as a member of the Preseason All-MAC team. His 33 points (second-highest in TOTWC history) against Ole Miss was a career-high and his 27 free throw attempts set a BGSU and MAC record. His 20 free throws made was one shy of the BGSU mark of 21 established by Howard Komives in 1964. Eight times last season, McLeod went to the line 10 times or more. He had a team-high 28 points against Washington and made the go-ahead basket against Delaware.
RENEWING AN OLD RIVALRY
Saturday will mark the 51st meeting between the Falcons and Yellow Jackets. The series began in 1915 and was last played in 1995. BGSU has a 29-21 advantage, including a 25-9 mark in Bowling Green.
SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
Defiance is 3-0 after defeating Heidelberg, 84-78, Tuesday evening. The Yellow Jackets are averaging 97.3 points per game and are attempting 23 three-point field goals per game and more than 80 shot attempts. Senior guard Eric Viney is averaging 16.3 points per game and 7.7 rebounds. Sophomore Juan Vela is averaging 12.7 points, junior center Brian Brenner is averaging 11.3 points, and junior Mike Krudziel is averaging 10.7 points.
BROOKHAVEN TEAMMATES TO JOIN FALCONS
Bowling Green State University men's basketball coach Dan Dakich has announced the signing of two players from Columbus to national letters of intent to attend BGSU and play basketball for the Falcons next year. Ron Lewis, a 6-4 wing, and Raheem Moss, a 6-3 shooting guard, were part of the Brookhaven team that went 26-1 losing only to Cincinnati Elder in the Division I state semifinal, last season. Lewis, a 6-4 wing player who led Brookhaven with 59 dunks last season, averaged 16.2 points per game on a team with five players scoring in double figures. Moss, a 6-3 shooting guard, averaged 14 points per game and was the team's best 3-point shooter.
