
Volleyball Sweeps Marshall, 3-0

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - The Bowling Green State University volleyball team went on the road and posted a three-game sweep of Marshall University Friday night (Nov. 9). The Falcons downed the Thundering Herd by game scores of 30-21, 30-25 and 30-25 at the Cam Henderson Center.
With the win, the Falcons move into a tie for the East Division lead in the Mid-American Conference. BGSU (17-6 overall) now has a MAC record of 10-5 to tie Akron with three matches remaining in the regular season. The Zips were idle Friday night.
Marshall drops to 6-18 overall and 4-11 in the MAC.
The win was BGSU's fifth in a row, matching a season best. The Falcons are 8-2 over the last 10 contests.
For the third-straight match, junior Kristin Gamby paced the Brown and Orange in kills, with 16 off the bench. She hit .367 on the evening, just behind senior Caty Rommeck's team-best .382 hitting percentage. Rommeck had a double-double, with 15 kills and 10 digs in the win.
Senior Kate Yeo led the team with 11 digs, and Yeo and senior Natalie Becker each had three service aces. Becker had 37 set assists.
Gamby had a match-high four total blocks, while Becker and senior Amber Vorst each had two. Both of Vorst's blocks were of the solo variety.
Grace Jones was the lone MU player in double digits in kills, with 11, while Heidi Kuethe led the Herd in both digs (13) and hitting percentage (.429).
The Falcons remain on the road for Saturday evening's (Nov. 10) match at Ohio University. Start time for that contest is 7:00 p.m. at the Convocation Center in Athens. Then, BGSU will step outside of MAC play for the final time this year, hosting Cleveland State University Tuesday (Nov. 13). That match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Anderson Arena.
