Ypsilanti, MI - The Bowling Green gymnastics team saw its record fall to 6-6 overall and 3-2 in the Mid-American Conference after dropping a meet at Eastern Michigan Friday night. The Eagles outscored the Falcons 193.900-192.675 to take the win. Individually, the Falcons were led by junior Marny Oestreng (Trogstad, Norway) who took first place on the bars (9.850) and second on the vault (9.775).
Sophomore Pia Sjovall (Skarer, Norway) took a pair of third place finishes on the floor (9.800) and the vault (9.775), while classmate Kathy Emerson (Findlay, OH) took third on the beam (9.725). Reigning MAC Gymnast of the week, sophomore Ann Marie Kassouf (Middleburg Heights, OH) tied freshman Melissa Popovich (Medina, OH) for third on the bars with scores of 9.700.
The Falcons return to action Sunday when they travel to Mt. Pleasant, MI to meet the Chippewas of Central Michigan University. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
