CLEVELAND, Ohio - Bowling Green State University senior Nikki Rouhana (Westerville, Ohio/North) has been named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced late Monday (April 2). Rouhana earns the honor for the second time in her Falcon career.
Rouhana, a first baseman, was named the MAC's P-O-W in the East Division. Last week, she hit .500 to help the Falcons go 5-0, all in league play. The MAC start matches the best in school history.
Rouhana had 10 hits in 20 at-bats as the Falcons took two games from Toledo and three from Marshall last week. She led the team in hits (10), doubles (three), total bases (17) and slugging pct. (.850). Rouhana tied for the team lead with a total of seven runs batted in and an on-base percentage of .500.
In the field, Rouhana was perfect in 47 chances. Since she was moved to the leadoff spot in the batting order, the Falcons have gone 8-2. BGSU has won seven consecutive games.
On the year, Rouhana is hitting a team-best .382. An All-MAC First-Team selection last year, she also leads the team in slugging percentage (.544) and on-base pct. (.455).
Each week, the MAC honors both and East and West Division Player and Pitcher of the Week.
The Falcons, 15-10 overall and 5-0 in MAC action, step outside of league play to host the University of Michigan in a single game Wednesday (April 4). First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at the BGSU Softball Field. BG then heads to Central Michigan University for a three-game weekend series (April 6-7).
