Bowling Green - Bowling Green responded to two late goals scored by visiting Dayton on Sunday evening with one of its own to knot the score at 3-3, which is the way the exhibition match ended for the Falcons. The game-tying goal was knocked in by freshman Charlie Archibald at 88:05 to tie the Flyers, 3-3. Junior Tim Butler assisted on the goal.
Dayton jumped out to the early 1-0 lead when Joe Hall knocked the ball past a defender into the right-side of the net at 16:24. However, BGSU roared right back when defenseman Tony Malik knocked in a header from the box off of a rebound at 17:56 to tie the score. Later in the first half, sophomore Scott Tilford touched one past Dayton's goalie to give the Falcons a 2-1 advantage in the 42nd minute.
"I'm pleased with our effort to come back after trailing by one and taking the lead, then doing it again in the second half," said BGSU coach Mel Mahler. "I think that shows character."
Bowling Green led 2-1 at halftime but gave up two goals at 77:23 and 83:14. Dayton's goals by Tye Stebbins (77:23) and Chris Rolfe (83:14) put the visitors up by one before Archibald's goal tied the match with 1:55 left in the match.
"Our goal was to get better today than Friday (2-0 loss versus Wright State University)," said Mahler. "We put together two good halves today. We found a way to create chances and take advantage of them."
BGSU ends its exhibition season on Monday, August 27 when it hosts Oakland University at 3 p.m. at Cochrane Field.
NOTE: The game time for Monday's exhibition game has been changed from 5 p.m. to 3 p.m.
