DON WORSFOLD
Worsfold, a native of East Grand Rapids, Mich., swam at East Grand Rapids High School for coach Tom Stubbs. He was a three-year letterwinner in swimming, and set numerous freshman, varsity and pool records during his BGSU tenure. He won the 1957 MAC title in both the 50 freestyle and 100 free. The following year, as a senior co-captain, he was a member of the MAC championship relay team in the 400 free and was part of MAC-record relays in both the 200 free and 200 back. Worsfold also was a member of the school-record 400 medley relay team.
Also in 1958, Worsfold received All-America honors in the 50 free, at a time when only the top six finishers garnered All-America honors.
Worsfold held the school record in that event, as well as in the 100 free, 300 medley relay and 400 free relay.
After graduation, Worsfold received his law degree from the Detroit College of Law in 1961, and practiced law for more than a quarter-century. He served as president of the Grand Rapids (Mich.) Bar Association, and was a partner with the firm of Linsey, Strain and Worsfold. Worsfold also received numerous community service awards and citations.
A lifelong resident of the Grand Rapids area, Worsfold passed away in 1989. He and his wife, Nel, are the parents of a daughter, Tracy Clark, and a son, Rennie.
