BGSU Ends In Tie Against Canisius In Diadora Classic, 0-0

Bowling Green - Bowling Green State University men's soccer ended in a 0-0 tie against visiting Canisius in the BG's Diadora Classic at Cochrane Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons outshot Canisius 10-4 in the two overtime periods with several shots on goal, but could not net the game-winner. Freshman Burt Weaver came off the bench for coach Mel Mahler and led the team with five shot attempts while starter Tim Butler had four shots. Overall, BGSU had a 20-16 shot advantage.
Canisius (1-3-1) came out as the aggressors in the first half with seven shots in the first 45 minutes to BGSU's one. However, the hosts picked up its offense in the second half with a 9-5 shot advantage.
Bowling Green (1-1-1) had a 9-2 corner kick advantage, including one in each of the overtime periods. Goalie David DeGraff had five saves in 120 minutes played while Canisius' goalkeeper, Dave Borchard, knocked away 10 Falcon attempts.
Damion Bennett, Detrick Matthews, Scott Tilford and Matt Martinka had two shot attempts apiece.
BGSU plays UW-Milwaukee on Sunday, Sept. 23, at 4 p.m. in the final day of the Diadora Classic.

UW-Milwaukee defeats Dayton in game one of Diadora Classic, 3-2
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee defeated the University of Dayton on Saturday in game one of the Diadora Classic, 3-2.
UW-Milwaukee (6-1) got on the board first with a goal by Kyle Lance, with an assist from Bobby Lish at 19:01. However, Dayton tied it up 54 seconds later with a goal by Chris Rolfe at 19:55.
The Panthers extended its lead to 2-1 in the 27th minute with a goal by Antou Jallow (26:14), his first of two goals in the game. Lish and Chad Dombrowski assisted on the goal.
Jallow netted his second goal at 38:49 with an assist by Ryan Seymour for a 3-1 lead.
The Panthers (2-3-1) scored its final goal at 83:48 off of the foot of Tye Stebbins (assist by Christian Porto).
Dayton takes on Canisius on Sunday, Sept. 23, at 2 p.m. while UW-Milwaukee takes on host BGSU at 4 p.m.
