BGSU Baseball Hands Out Awards at Annual Dinner

Bowling Green - The Bowling Green State University baseball team held its annual dinner on Sunday, Sept. 23, at the Bowling Green Elks Lodge #818. Head coach Danny Schmitz handed out awards to members of the 2001 Mid-American Conference East Division Champions, the third time in four years that the Falcons captured the division title.
Among the players that were recognized that night were 2001 tri-captains Aric Christman, Craig Menke and Lee Morrison. Christman, who set or tied seven school records in 2001 and finished his Falcon career among the top-five in six categories all-time. He is second at BGSU in career hits (215) and career runs scored (155). Morrison was a first-team All-MAC selection after setting new single-season school records for home runs (18), RBIs (63) and total bases (141). He played this summer with the Canton Crocodiles of the Frontier League. Finally, Menke was the top pitcher for the Falcons in 2001, finishing with a team-best 3.45 ERA and 66 strikeouts to go along with a 6-1 record in just 11 appearances.
