Huskies Stop Falcon Win Streak

DeKALB, Ill. - In their second MAC match of the season, the Bowling Green volleyball team fell to Northern Illinois in three games (25-30, 19-30, 16-30). BG moves to 7-2, 1-1 in the MAC and NIU is now 5-4, 2-2 in the MAC. The Friday (Sept. 28) match was held in Evans Field House in DeKalb, Ill.
Bowling Green was led by Caty Rommeck, registering 15 kills in the match. Rommeck averaged five kills per game for the seventh match this season. She also had nine digs, a block solo and a service ace. Classmate Natalie Becker recorded a team-high 28 assists, as well as a service ace of her own.
Redshirt junior Kristin Gamby had seven kills and three digs, while redshirt sophomore Laura Twyman has four kills and four digs in the match. Senior Amber Vorst matched Rommeck's nine digs, also registering two kills.
Also seeing action for the Falcons were Kate Yeo, Susie Norris, Karen Amstutz, Nadia Bedricky, Shyann Robinson, and Melissa Mohr.
The Falcons were held to 29 kills as a team, hitting .085, while the Huskies had 58 kills and hit .318 as a team. The Falcons registered one team block to the Huskies' 11.
The Falcons will continue on the road next weekend, with MAC matches at Buffalo Friday (Oct. 5) and Akron Saturday (Oct. 6). Both games will be held at 7:00 p.m.
