
Volleyball Falls to Michigan State, 3-0

East Lansing, MI - After a strong five match winning streak, the Falcons suffered their first loss of the season at the Coca-Cola Spartan Invitational, losing to host team and tournament champion Michigan State in three games (30-25, 30-26, 30-24).
Senior Caty Rommeck and junior Kristin Gamby were both named to the All-Tournament Team for Bowling Green. Rommeck had nine kills, nine digs and two blocks against the Spartans. Gamby registered her tournament-high 12 kills, as well as two blocks in the match.
Senior setter Natalie Becker led the team with 41 assists, while sophomore Susie Norris had a team-high 13 kills and nine digs, to tie teammate Rommeck in that department. Sophomore Laura Twyman registered six kills and two blocks in the match.
Also seeing action for the Falcons were seniors Kate Yeo, Karen Amstutz, and Amber Vorst, and sophomore Nadia Bedricky.
The Falcons had 46 kills and hit .210 as a team, while the Spartans had 53 kills and hit .287 as a team. Both teams committed 20 errors. Michigan State had a team total eight blocks to Bowling Green's five.
Bowling Green takes on the University of Dayton for their first home match of the season on Tuesday (September 11) at 7:00 p.m. in Anderson Arena. The Falcons also play in the Pioneer Classic next weekend (Sept. 14-15) in Denver, Colorado, taking on the Seina Saints (Sept.14) and the Denver Pioneers (Sept.15).
