Falcons Fall Short To Kent State, 70-67

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - Andrew Mitchell scored 18 points Saturday to lead Kent State to a 70-67 win over Bowling Green in Mid-American Conference play.
Kent (14-5, 7-1) led by as many as 16 points in the first half on 58.3 percent shooting from the field. The Golden Flashes cooled off in the second half, shooting less than 27 percent on 7 of 26 shooting and saw their lead cut to two late in the game.
Kent had four players in double scoring, including Nate Gerwig with 12 points and Trevor Huffman and Eric Thomas with 11 each. Gerwig also grabbed 11 rebounds.
Bowling Green (14-4, 4-3) shot 38 percent from the field, was outrebounded 39-34 and was led by Len Matela and Keith McLeod, who scored 19 points each. Matella also had a game-high 12 rebounds to lead the Falcons, who cut the lead to two points on two shots from the field by McLeod in the final minutes. Kent's Huffman made a foul shot with 20 seconds left to preserve the win.
