Evansville, Ind. - Bowling Green jumped out to a 1-0 and then a 2-1 lead by the third inning, but four runs in the bottom of the fifth gave host University of Evansville the lead for good en route to a 6-2 victory over the visiting Falcons on Friday afternoon.
Two UE errors and a double by senior Nick Elrod scored Kelly Hunt for a 1-0 BGSU lead in the top of the second inning. Evansville evened the score in the bottom half of the inning off of an RBI-single by Ryan Frazier.
BGSU regained the lead in the top of the third inning with a solo home run by sophomore Andy Hudak, his third of his career, for a 2-1 advantage.
Falcon starter Kyle Knoblauch (0-1) looked strong early, allowing just one run over the first four innings. But, the right-hander hit UE catcher Michael Snyder with one out in the fifth inning which began a four-run rally for the Aces.
Bowling Green (1-3) was limited to just three hits with Elrod (two hits) and Hudak supplying all the firepower. Sophomore Ryan Lindquist pitched the final three innings, allowing just one run on four hits with two strikeouts.
