Kent, Ohio - The Kent State University men's basketball team defeated Bowling Green State University, 76-64, Monday night at the MAC Center in Kent. KSU is 17-5 and 10-1, while BGSU is 16-5 and 6-4.
The Golden Flashes trio of Andrew Mitchell (26), Nate Gerwig (21) and Antonio Gates (14) combined for 61 points as the Golden Flashes shot 62.1% from the field in the second half enroute to a 54.7% performance for the game.
BGSU trailed 29-22 at halftime and were led by Keith McLeod, who scored 22 of his 29 points in the second half, including a five for six effort from beyond three-point range in the final 20 minutes. The Falcons cut the lead to 41-35 with 13:30 remaining, but could get no closer.
No other Falcons scored in double figures, but Kevin Netter chipped in nine points.
The Falcons will host Ohio, at 7 p.m., Wednesday, February 6.
