Senior Marny Oestreng Earns Third Gymnast of the Week Honor

For the ninth time in her career, senior gymnast Marny Oestreng has been named the Mid-American Conference Gymnast of the Week. This is the third time this season that she has earned this honor.

Oestreng led the Falcons to their ninth victory of 2002 last weekend at Rutgers. BG earned a team total of 192.000 points to win the meet and tie the 1978-79 squad with the best start to a season with nine consecutive victories. Oestreng placed first in every event, earning a 9.825 on the vault, a 9.875 on the bars, a 9.725 on the beam, a 9.850 on the floor and an all-around score of 39.275.

Bowling Green is now 9-0 overall and 2-0 in MAC competition. The Falcons will look to remain undefeated in 2002 as they take on North Carolina and George Washington this weekend at UNC. The squad returns home next week on Friday, February 15 to take on MAC opponent Northern Illinois at 7 p.m.
