Men's Golf Finishes Third at Big Red Classic

Ocala, Fla. - The Bowling Green men's golf team finished its first weekend of the spring season third at the 16-team Big Red Classic in Ocala, Fla., on Sunday. The tournament was hosted by Indiana University and Ball State University.
Bowling Green finished with a three-round score of 875 (+11) behind only champion Lamar University (862) and Michigan State University (865). BGSU finished ahead of Penn State and five Mid-American Conference schools, among others.
Senior Brian Gerken finished tied for fifth overall after being one of the tournament leaders after the first and second rounds. Gerken finished with a three-round score of 216 (70, 72, 74). Junior Adam Balls was the next highest Falcon finisher with a 10th-place finish with a score of 218 (75, 71, 72).
Other BGSU players helping with the third-place finish were RS-freshman Craig Pickerel (T-10th, 222), senior Justin Gillham (T-30th, 226), freshman Austin Chase (T-47th, 232) and junior Andy Miller (T-47th, Andy Miller).
Bowling Green's next meet will be at the Pepsi Intercollegiate in Tanglewood, Texas (March 22-24).
