TOLEDO, Ohio - Marshall University posted a 7-0 win over the Bowling Green State University women's tennis team Friday afternoon (April 12). Due to rain in Bowling Green earlier in the day, the Mid-American Conference match was held at Shadow Valley in Toledo.
The Thundering Herd improves to 15-7 overall and 5-1 in MAC action, while the Falcons fall to 2-16 and 1-5, respectively.
Sophomore Lisa Maloney was the lone Falcon to extend her singles match to a third set. In that third set, played under a tiebreaker format, Maloney dropped a hard-fought 16-14 decision to MU's Anna Mitina at the second flight.
In doubles action, the team of senior Devon Bissinger and freshman Susie Schoenberger suffered a narrow, 9-7 loss to Mitina and Lille Nzudie at the middle level.
BGSU will end the home portion of the 2001-02 schedule with a Saturday (April 13) match against Miami University. That contest is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. at BGSU's Keefe Courts, weather permitting.
