BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team won at every flight to record a 7-0 victory over the University at Buffalo Friday afternoon (April 19). The Mid-American Conference dual match was held at the UB Tennis Complex.
The win improves the Falcons' dual-match records to 3-17 overall and 2-6 in MAC action. Buffalo dropped to 2-14 and 0-8, respectively.
BGSU lost a total of only 14 games in singles action, and dropped only three games in doubles play, as the Falcons broke a three-match losing streak.
The Falcons captured the doubles point in quick fashion, led by the top-flight duo of senior Devon Bissinger and freshman Susie Schoenberger. That tandem downed UB's Karen Maynard and Michaela Kollarova by an 8-0 count.
At the second flight, junior Alyson Gabel and sophomore Gaby Coello won by an 8-2 result, while sophomores Lisa Maloney and Jessica Johnson lost only one game in their third-flight win.
The success continued in singles play, as Bissinger and Maloney each lost only two games in their wins at the first and second flights, respectively. Schoenberger did them one better, dropping only a single game in her third-flight sweep.
Coello and freshmen Laura Kokinda and Cameron Benjamin won at flights four through six, respectively.
The Falcons will remain on the road to close the regular season with a Saturday (April 20) match at Akron. Then, BGSU will head to Muncie, Ind., for next weekend's MAC Championships (April 25-28).
