BGSU Drops 1-0 Decision to Pittsburgh

St. Bonaventure, N.Y. - Bowling Green dropped a 1-0 decision to Pittsburgh on Sunday on the final day of the St. Bonaventure Adidas Soccer Classic in St. Bonaventure, N.Y. The Panthers netted the only goal of the game at 51:31 of the match.
BGSU (0-2) had its only two shots of the game come in the first half, one off of the foot of Francisco Jose Sanchez (Deerfield, Ill.) and the other from Dave Belfort (West Chester, Ohio). Pittsburgh had four shots in the first half, but both teams went to halftime with no score.
The Falcons had five different players receive yellow cards while Pittsburgh had three yellows. Despite being outshot 9-2, Bowling Green held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Junior David DeGraff had three saves in net for the Falcons.
BGSU junior Eric Duda (Bloomingdale, Ill.) and freshman Paul Seip (Huntington Valley, Pa.) were named to the All-Tournament team. St. Bonaventure won the tournament by defeating Oneonta on Sunday, 3-0.
BGSU returns home next weekend when it hosts the Falcon Diadora Classic at Cochrane Field (Sept. 7-8). Detroit-Mercy plays Duquesne at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, while Bowling Green will play play Saint Francis (Pa.) at 3 p.m. On Sunday, Detroit will play Saint Francis (1 p.m.) and BGSU will face Duquesne (3 p.m.).
