FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Bowling Green State University volleyball squad suffered a tough, five-game setback at IPFW Tuesday night (Sept. 17). The Falcons fell to the Volleydons by game scores of 30-26, 30-22, 24-30, 26-30, 11-15. The Orange and Brown falls to 3-6 overall going into this weekend's tournament action.
Senior Kristin Gamby led the team in kills with 26 and hit .396. The kill total tied her career-high set in the October 14, 2000 match against Northern Illinois. Gamby also posted three solo blocks in Tuesday's match. Junior Susie Norris chipped in 13 kills and led both squads in digs with 18.
Freshman Emily Manser was second in digs with 15, while left-side hitter Samantha Rennau added nine kills and two block solos of her own for the Falcons. Amber Mareski set a personal best in assists with 49. The duo of Taylor Twite and Laura Twyman led the team at the net defensively with five and four blocks, respectively.
The Falcons return to action this weekend at the Wisconsin/Badger Invitational. Bowling Green will face Wisconsin, the University of Illinois at Chicago and Tulane University in final pre-conference competition.
