Five Bowling Green volleyball players had kill totals in double-digits Saturday (Sept. 28), but it was not enough to defeat the University of Akron. The Falcons were defeated by the Zips in five games 21-30, 30-24, 30-20, 23-30, 9-15 and now fall to 5-9 overall and 0-2 in Mid-American Conference play.
Juniors Susie Norris, Nadia Bedricky, Laura Twyman, senior Kristin Gamby and sophomore Bridget Protas all tallied at least 12 kills apiece. Norris led the offense with 16 kills while fellow classmate Bedricky totaled 14 slams and swept up the backcourt with 21 digs to lead both teams. Protas and Twyman led the net defense with five and six blocks, respectively. The Falcons out-hit the Zips 73 kills to 65, but it was not enough to hold onto the win.
BG returns to homecourt advantage Wednesday, October 2, to host the University of Toledo at 7:00 p.m.
