YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) - Senior forward Steve Pettyjohn scored 18 points and Ryan Prillman added 12 as Eastern Michigan held off Bowling Green, 73-67, in front of 2,616 at the Convocation Center on Tuesday night.
The Falcons cut a nine-point Eastern Michigan lead down to two with a minute to go. But Pettyjohn drained a three-pointer on the Eagles' next possession to seal the victory.
For Eastern Michigan (7-5, 1-2 Mid-American), it was the team's first win over the Falcons in the past five meetings. Junior center Kevin Netter led first-place Bowling Green (8-5, 4-1) with 15 points, as the Falcons ended their six-game winning streak.
The Eagles jumped out to a 37-34 halftime lead and never looked back.
Sophomore JaQuan Hart, a transfer from Ohio State, ignited the Eagles in the first half with seven points, three rebounds and three assists in just 12 minutes.
Eastern Michigan shot 55 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes, with Prillman having his way inside and leading the team with eight points. Prillman also stifled Netter, the Falcons' leading scorer, holding him to 4-of-11 shooting in the first half.
