KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Robby Collum scored a season-high 17 points Wednesday night to lead Western Michigan to a 76-58 win over Mid-American Conference West leader Bowling Green.
Collum led a group of five Western players in double figures as the Broncos (11-4, 3-3 MAC) led from beginning to finish for the third consecutive game. The team defeated Bowling Green for the first time in three seasons.
Anthony Kann scored 15 for Western and Bobby Madison had a career-high 13. Mike Williams and Reggie Berry each scored 10.
Bowling Green (9-6, 5-2 MAC) was held scoreless for more than seven minutes and trailed 13-0 before Cory Ryan scored his only basket of the game, a 3-pointer, with 12:35 left in the first half.
Western, with the nation's third-best defense (56.4 points per game), held Bowling Green to 16 first-half points.
John Reimold led Bowling Green with 20 points, scoring 18 of them in the second half.
Western led by as many as 23 points and never allowed Bowling Green closer than 13 points in the second half. The Falcons cut the lead to 49-36 on a basket by Reimold with 12:49 left, but Western went on a 13-3 run over the next seven minutes.
The Falcons did receive a surpising boost from freshmen Raheem Moss and Cole Magner. Through the first 14 games of the season, the duo had combined for 24 points between them. Playing most of the second half, Moss contributed 10 points, eight rebounds and two assists. He also made both of his three-point field goal attempts. Magner, who had seen just 23 minutes of action since joining the program from the football team, had eight points and three steals in 20 minutes and hit two of three from three-point range.
