Fort Wayne, Ind. - Bowling Green won its second overtime game in three matches as it defeated IPFW Friday night in Fort Wayne, 2-1, thanks to a Dustin Snyder goal.
The freshman scored at just 3:51 of overtime to improve BGSU's record to 4-5-2 overall and 2-1-1 in overtime games. It was Snyder's third goal of the season and first GWG. Adrian Akpan assisted on the goal.
IFPW netted the first goal of the game, sort of. At the 11 minute mark of the first half, IPFW's Craig Vande Vusse lofted a long ball into the Bowling Green box. The ball caromed off of the Falcons Paul Dhaliwal and into the BGSU net. The "own-goal" gave the 'Dons a 1-0 lead in the first half.
In the second half, the Falcons tied the game in the 62nd minute thanks to sophomore Daniel Bartulovic's first goal at BGSU. Senior defender Eric Duda picked up his team-leading fourth assist.
It stayed tied after regulation, mostly due to the acrobatic goal keeping of IPFW's Peter Hachaj and BGSU's David DeGraff. Hachaj made 13 saves in the match while DeGraff had seven stops.
BGSU returns home for a Mid-American Conference game vs. Northern Illinois on Sunday, Oct. 12. Kick-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Mickey Cochrane Field.
