State College, Pa. - The Bowling Green women's golf team concluded its 2003 Fall season with a tie for seventh place at the Nittany Lion Invitational, hosted by Penn State University. The Falcons ended with a three-round team score of 958, good enough for a tie with Yale. James Madison won the 11-team tournament with a score of 900.
Headlining the Falcon weekend, however, was senior Jenny Schnipke's record-setting performance. The Kalida, Ohio, native finished second overall with a 54-hole score of 221 (76-72-73), establishing a new school record. The old 54-hole record was held by Kris McKelvey (225) set all the way back in 1981. It was her second runner-up finish and third top-five finish in five tournaments this fall.
Other Falcon placers included freshman Kari Liggett (T-33rd, 241), sophomore Amanda Schroeder (T-44th, 249), seniors Julie Wise and Kari Evans (T-51st, 253), and freshman Ashley Hartman (65th, 282).
