ESPN2 Picks Up Falcon Game with Northern Illinois

Bowling Green, Ohio - ESPN, Inc. today gave notice that the Northern Illinois at Bowling Green game scheduled for Oct. 25 in Bowling Green, Ohio, has been picked up as a national telecast with a 4:00 p.m. (ET) time slot on ESPN2. The game marks the first ever nationally televised game from Perry Stadium. It also will be the Falcons' first national television appearance since the end of the 2000 season when BGSU played at Toledo. The Falcons also are scheduled to appear on ESPN2 when they visit Miami, November 4.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for our University," said BGSU Director of Athletics Paul Krebs. "It is Family Weekend on our campus and we have an opportunity to be showcased on national television and host possibly the highest ranked team ever to visit BGSU. I'm confident our students, alumni and fans will come out and celebrate this historic event with our football program."
Both teams are undefeated in conference play going into this weekend's competition which features Northern Illinois (6-0 overall, 2-0 MAC) hosting Western Michigan (3-3, 2-1) and Bowling Green (5-1, 2-0) at Eastern Michigan (1-6, 0-3).
The Huskies are ranked their highest in school history at No. 12 in this week's Associated Press poll and No. 16 in the ESPN/USA TODAY Coaches poll. The Falcons are also receiving votes and are at No. 27 in the Associated Press poll and No. 29 in the ESPN/USA TODAY Coaches poll.
"I think it is an outstanding honor to have this game picked up by ESPN2," said first-year coach Gregg Brandon. "I think our program and our conference have received some well deserved recognition and we look forward to showing the nation that the quality of football played in the MAC is nothing short of first class."
