
Falcons End Non-Conference Schedule With Loss To CSU

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University volleyball team went on the road Tuesday night to complete their non-conference schedule, only to come away with a loss in four sets. The senior combo of Nadia Bedricky and Susie Norris led the Falcons, each posting 13 kills.
In game one, the Falcons raced out to an early 6-3 lead after back-to-back Cleveland State attack errors, only to allow the Vikings to tie the score at 12-12 after a 9-6 run. The Falcons reclaimed the lead at 23-22 after a Susie Norris kill. The Falcons were unable to close out game one, allowing CSU to finish the set on an 8-2 run and a 30-25 first game win.
BGSU fell behind early with a CSU 6-0 run in game two. The Brown & Orange mounted a comeback to get as close as 12-11 after a kill by Nadia Bedricky, before CSU went on a 7-3 run to take a 19-14 lead, allowing Bowling Green to get no closer then 21-15. CSU won game two 30-20.
Once again Bowling Green fell behind early trailing 16-10 midway through game three and then 23-15 after a CSU service ace, forcing a BGSU timeout. The Falcons came out inspired following the timeout with an 8-1 run to knot the score at 24-24, and eventually captured game three 32-30.
For the third consecutive set the Falcons dug themselves a hole falling behind 7-3 after a BGSU service error in game four. BGSU was unable to ever claim the lead in the final set getting as close 22-18 after a CSU attack error. The Vikings closed out the match with an 8-6 run and a 30-24 win.
For the match, four Falcons had at least nine kills. Junior Taylor Twite had a team-leading 14 kills and chipped in with two solo blocks and four block assists. Seniors Susie Norris and Nadia Bedricky each posted 13 kills. Norris added 17 digs and three service aces, while Bedricky posted nine digs. Bridget Protas had a team-leading .421 hitting percentage to go along with her nine kills.
Sophomore Emily Manser added 10 digs and six kills, while freshman Chrissy Gothke, once gain led the team in the digs department with 22.
The Falcons return home this weekend to host MAC foes Toledo on Friday night and Northern Illinois on Saturday night. Both matches are set for 7:00 p.m.
