Eastern Michigan Gets Best Of Falcons

YPSILANTI, MI - The Bowling Green State University volleyball team dropped a four-set match to Eastern Michigan, 27-30, 30-20, 27-30, 15-30, Friday night at the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Freshman Chrissy Gothke established a new BGSU school record with 30 digs in four games, previously held by Holli Costein with 29 digs, back in 1990.
Despite only two Falcons reaching double-digit kills, on the defensive side of the ball, five Falcons had at least 10 digs. Leading the way for the Brown & Orange was freshman Chrissy Gothke and her career-high 30 digs. Susie Norris chipped in with 21 digs, Nadia Bedricky added 18, while Rennau and Amber Mareski added 15 and 11 digs. As a team BGSU had 102 digs, a season-best.
Senior Samantha Rennau had a team-high 22 kills and added 15 digs to go along with a team-high .283 hitting percentage.
Taylor Twite was the second Falcon to record double-digit kills with 15. She also led the team with five block-assists.
Bowling Green drops to 11-11 overall and 3-5 in the MAC, while Eastern Michigan improves to 18-4 and 6-3 in the MAC.
BGSU returns to action tomorrow night when they travel to Central Michigan to face-off with the Chippewas at 7:00 p.m.
