Falcons Overcome Four-Goal Deficit and Tie Miami, 4-4

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green overcame a four-goal deficit on Saturday night and answered with four goals of their own over the final 28:41 of the game to tie visiting Miami, 4-4, in Central Collegiate Hockey Association action.
Senior Mark Wires and freshman Rich Meloche scored two goals apiece to spur the Falcon comeback. Wires scored a power-play goal at 8:41 of the second period to put the Falcons on the board and followed up with another goal at 12:33 to cut the deficit to 4-2.
Meloche then jumped into the action and scored at 9:28 of the third period to bring BGSU to within one goal, 4-3. The Oakville, Ontario, native then knotted the game at four goals apiece with just 47 seconds remaining in regulation with BGSU on the power play and with goalie Jordan Sigalet pulled.
The two teams battled to a scoreless overtime period to end in the 4-4 tie.
Miami had built its 4-0 lead with three goals in the third period via Matt Christie (SHG), Andy Greene, and Derek Edwardson. Edwardson added the fourth goal just 45 seconds into the second period.
Sigalet finished with 29 saves on 33 shots faced and helped keep the Miami power play scoreless for the second-straight night (0-for-5). The RedHawks finished 0-for-11 in the two game series with the man advantage. BGSU was 2-for-6 with the power play. MU's Steve Hartley finished with 25 saves on 29 shots faced.
BGSU improves to 2-4-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the CCHA. Miami is now 3-5-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the league.
Wires' goal improves his point streak to four games with the two goals.
The Falcons finish their six-game homestand next weekend when it hosts non-conference opponent Niagara on Friday, Nov. 7. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
