BGSU Doubles Up Niagara, 4-2

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green ended its six-game homestand on a high note with a 4-2 victory over visiting Niagara on Friday night. The Falcons are currently riding a four-game unbeaten streak (2-0-2), the longest since March of 2001.
Four different Falcons found the net on Friday, including two freshmen, a sophomore and a senior. Freshman Jonathan Sigalet scored his first collegiate goal, a short-handed goal, and assisted on Mark Wires' power-play goal. Brett Pilkington (goal, assist) and Rich Meloche were the other BGSU players with tallies.
For the fourth-straight game the Falcons held their opponent scoreless on the power play, killing off eight power plays by Niagara on Friday. BGSU has now killed off 29-straight power plays since its 3-1 loss to Union on Oct. 24.
Sigalet became the 11th different Falcon and fourth defenseman to score a goal this season. Freshman Nick Lang from Livonia, Mich., played in his first game of the season and finished plus-1 on the fourth line.
Wires improved his current point streak to five games, tying a career-high. The senior forward has tallied 4-2--6 during that span and leads the team with seven overall points. Sophomore defenseman Jon Sitko registered his first point of the season with an assist on Sigalet's short-handed goal. The shortie was BGSU's first of the season.
Friday's four goals marked the third-straight game the Falcons have netted four goals. The last time BGSU had three-straight games with four or more g oals was Nov. 4-19, 2000.
Sigalet's brother, Jordan, was steady in net by stopping 25 of 27 shots faced. NU's Rob Bonk allowed three goals in 40:00 minutes of action while Jeff Van Nynatten gave up one goal in 18:28 of work.
The Falcons improve to 3-4-2 overall while Niagara dips to 2-4-0 overall. BGSU takes to the road for its next five games, including two at Lake Superior State University next weekend, Nov. 14-15. Saturday's game will not be broadcasted on 88.1, WBGU.
