BGSU Shut Out by Marshall in 5-0 Loss

Bowling Green, Ohio - Marshall pitcher Grant Harper held Bowling Green to four hits and no runs in a 5-0 defeat of the Falcons on Friday at Warren Steller Field in Mid-American Conference action. The loss drops BGSU's record to 12-17 overall and 5-8 in the MAC.
BGSU advanced a runner to second base in four of the first six innings but was unable to get a run across. Marshall broke into the scoring column in the top of the third inning when Corie O'Bryan singled home Francois Larmore with two outs. The run was unearned due to a Falcon error earlier in the inning.
Marshall put two more runs on the board for a 3-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning when O'Bryan doubled down the left-field line, scoring Mike Koitsopoulos and Larmore.
The Thundering Herd plated a run in both the eight and ninth innings for the final 5-0 verdict.
BGSU starter Kyle Knoblauch lasted seven and two-third innings, allowing four runs (three earned) with three walks and seven strikeouts. Knoblauch took the loss and dropped to 2-4 overall. Doug Flere and Matt Hundley pitched in relief for the Falcons.
Freshman Steve Raszka led the Falcons with two of the four hits, including a single and a double. Jeff Warnock (single) and Nolan Reimold (single) had the other two hits for BGSU.
Marshall stranded 12 runners while BGSU left eight on base. BGSU had four errors in the game and Marshall had two miscues.
The Falcons host Marshall in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 26, beginning at 1 p.m. at Warren Steller Field.
