BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Lisa Maloney is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Maloney, a junior on the BGSU women's tennis team, went 2-1 as the Falcons split a pair of Mid-American Conference road matches last weekend.
Maloney, a native of South Barrington, Ill., won at both the second singles flight and the top doubles level as the Falcons posted a come-from-behind, 4-3 win at Miami Saturday (April 5). In that match, she won her match at the number-two singles flight in straight sets, and teamed with sophomore Susie Schoenberger for a win at the top doubles level.
Maloney, a Falcon co-captain, now has a total of 19 victories this season. She has a 9-9 singles mark, including a 2-2 record in MAC play, and a doubles record of 10-13.
Maloney, an early childhood education major, has a 3.64 cumulative grade point average through the fall, 2002, semester.
The Falcons return home for the final three matches of the 2002-03 regular season, beginning with a Saturday (April 12) match vs. Ball State. That match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at BGSU's Keefe Courts. The Falcons, after winning just five total matches during all of last year, are 7-10 overall this season, and BG has a 2-4 MAC record.
