MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - After two days of competition at the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Bowling Green State University sits in eighth place with 20 points. A pair of third-place finishes by Falcon individuals highlighted Friday's (May 16) competition at the meet, which is being held at Lyle Bennett Track on the Central Michigan University campus.
For the Brown and Orange, Amber Culp placed third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase event, with a time of 10:42.07 that was good enough to qualify her for NCAA Regional competition. The Falcons also got a third-place finish from Kerri McClung in the shot put. McClung's throw of 14.50m also met regional qualifying standards. Chassity Gulley was seventh in the shot.
Brooke Allen also scored a point for the Falcons on Friday, finishing eighth in the javelin.
A pair of Falcons qualified for the finals in the 100-meter hurdles. Alicia Taylor tied for fourth in the preliminaries of that event, in a time of 14.06. Amy Henry's clocking of 14.35 deadlocked her for seventh place overall, and moved her into Saturday's (May 17) finals.
BGSU enters Saturday's action with a team score of 20 points. The Falcons are one point behind seventh-place Kent State. Miami is in first place with 44 points.
