Falcons Cruise To Three Set Sweep Of West Virginia

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Falcons opened the 2003 Falcon Invitational in grand fashion sweeping West Virginia 30-22, 30-26, 30-23. Defense was the key to the match, holding the Mountaineers to a .129 team hitting percentage.
Leading the way on the defensive end was junior Melissa Mohr. Mohr had one solo block to go along with 4 block assists. The Falcons (5-2) had 10 total blocks in the match.
Freshman Chrissy Gothke continued her stellar defensive effort with a team leading 20-dig performance. Gothke has 70 digs in her last four matches.
Senior Samantha Rennau had an all-around solid performance with seven kills and 15 digs. She also posted a .261 hitting percentage.
West Virginia (1-6) was led by Stephanie Zolna with a team-leading nine kills and a .208 hitting percentage.
The BGSU Invitational Continues tonight at 6:00 p.m. when the Falcons will take on Murray State at 6:00 p.m., which will be followed by Iowa State and West Virginia at 8:00 p.m. Reminder fans, admission to the final four matches is free.
