BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Josh Harris is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Harris, a senior on the BGSU football team, set several career bests as the Falcons dropped a close game on the road to the defending national champions.
Harris, a native of Westerville, Ohio (North HS), completed a career-high 33 passes as the Falcons lost at Ohio State, 24-17. He also set a career standard with 54 passing attempts vs. the Buckeyes.
Harris threw for a total of 326 yards, his second 300-yard game of the season and the fourth of his career. Both of this season's 300-yard games have come vs. the Big Ten. In fact, all four of his career 300-yard games have come against BCS teams (Northwestern, Missouri, Purdue and OSU), including three against the Big Ten. In those three games vs. Big Ten foes, Harris has gone 85-of-141 (a completion pct. of 60.3) for a total of 1,085 yards, with eight TD passes and just four interceptions.
The Falcons' loss to OSU breaks a six-game winning streak against BCS opponents, and Harris is now 5-1 in his career as a starting quarterback vs. BCS foes.
Harris, an interpersonal communication major, maintains a 3.08 cumulative grade point average.
The Falcons, 3-1 on the season, are idle this weekend, before opening Mid-American Conference play with a home contest vs. Central Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 4. Starting time for the Homecoming game vs. CMU is 4:00 p.m. at Perry Stadium.
