Falcons Fall to #23 Akron, 4-1

Akron, Ohio - In a game shortened due to lightning, Bowling Green dropped a 4-1 decision to #23-ranked Akron at Lee Jackson Field on Friday night, 4-1. The game was a re-match of last year's Mid-American Conference Championship, which the Zips also won, 4-1.
Freshman Dustin Snyder netted his second career goal at 79:44 off of a free kick to cut the BGSU deficit to 3-1. However, Akron's Amico DeFranco scored less than three minutes later for the final 4-1 verdict. The game was halted at 86:14 due to lightning.
Redshirt-freshman goalkeeper Brandon Decker played his first game ever in the Brown and Orange, recording three saves and allowing four goals in 86:14. UA goalkeeper Justin Christafaris had two saves and allowed the one netter.
Akron held a 12-7 advantage in shots and a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
BGSU falls to 2-3-2 overall and 0-1-0 in the MAC while Akron improves to 5-2-1 overall and 1-0-0 in he MAC. The Falcons host Michigan on Sunday, Sept. 28, at Mickey Cochrane Field beginning at 3:30 p.m.
