MAUMEE, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University tennis team returned 'home' Sunday afternoon (Jan. 25), and Falcon competitors captured wins at every flight en route to a 7-0 victory over Youngstown State University. The non-conference dual match was held at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club.
With the win, the Falcons improve to 3-1 in dual play this season.
The Falcons opened by taking the doubles point, led by a shutout win from senior Lisa Maloney and junior Susie Schoenberger at the top flight. The duo downed YSU's Gina Peretti and Karen Najbert.
The Falcon sophomore tandem of Andrea Meister and Heidi Romer won the closest match of the three, with an 8-6 victory at the middle flight, while junior Cameron Benjamin and senior Jessica Johnson won an 8-3 decision at the third level.
The Brown and Orange had equal success in singles play, with all six BGSU players winning in straight sets. Schoenberger lost only five total games at the top flight, while Maloney dropped only two games in her second-flight win.
BGSU's other singles winners, in order, were Benjamin, Romer, Johnson and Meister. Meister lost only one game in her sixth-flight victory.
The Falcons will return to Shadow Valley next Sunday (Feb. 1), hosting Wright State University in a 1:00 p.m. match.
