BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Members of the Bowling Green State University softball team recently donated their time and effort to a most worthy cause. The Falcon student-athletes participated in the ADM Special Olympics Pro-Am tournament held at Varsity Lanes in December.
The purpose is for the nearly 200 athletes of Special Olympics to compete in a healthy manner. It is believed to be the largest event of its kind in the country.
Competitors came from Michigan, Pennsylvania and, of course, from across the state of Ohio. The PBA players who competed in the event donated their appearance fees back to the Special Olympic program.
Members of the Falcon softball program volunteered their time to help coordinate the event and assist the athletics. They, like everyone involved in the program, appreciate the efforts of the athletes who, before competition, recite the Special Olympics oath, "Let me win. But if I can not win, let me be brave in the attempt."
